Two security guards were on Monday arraigned before an Eldoret court for allegedly raping a Moi University female student.

The two are accused of committing the crime on October 7, 2017 at the University's main campus hostels in Kesses, Uasin Gishu.

Appearing before the Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa, the two pleaded not guilty to rape and indecent assault charges.

They were released on a Sh500,000 bond and a surety of similar amount.

The two are among 15 security guards attached to Moi University main campus that were arrested on Sunday in relation to the rape of the first year student.

The case will be mentioned on October 19 with the hearing set for November 2.

"If there's need to consolidate or amend the charges before the court, it should be done before the hearing begins," Obulutsa told the prosecution.
