Two people were injured and three motor cycles burnt as a group of herders armed with bows and arrows allegedly invaded Lomolo Sisal Estate in Rongai Sub-County, Nakuru.
The herders have on various occasions threatened to evict Harris Horn, claiming that he is illegally settled on the white sisal farm.
However, a group of locals sprang to the defense of Horn accusing their kinsmen of engaging in criminal activities and trying to forcibly evict the large scale sisal farmer from his rightful land.
On Wednesday, the two groups were trading accusation and counter-accusing on who started the latest spate of violence.
Shadrack Korir, herders spokesman, accused farm security of of trying to violently evict peasant farmers from the farm.
“They have destroyed homes and displaced people yet we have an order restraining them from any interference with the farm,” said Korir.
He said that the farm managers have blocked them from accessing Molo River and Rongai River which meanders through the vast far.
The herders are claiming 3, 500 acres of the farm.
