Two people were left nursing wounds after fire broke out at Kisumu's Pipeline estate.
The Tuesday evening fire also destroyed property of unknown value, with witnesses saying it was caused by a car suspected to be carrying petroleum.
"The car was transporting petroleum burst into flames at around 4 pm. The fire then spread so fast razing down several housing structures," narrated one of the witnesses.
Confirming the incident, Kisumu County Commander John Kamau said a man was injured after he tried to salvage his property from his shop which was being razed down.
He said police had launched investigations into the incident even as witnesses said two occupants of the car ran away after jumping out.
Fire fighters helped to put out the fire.
