Two passengers are nursing serious injuries after a Matatu colluded with Bodaboda head on at Maili Mbili, Bobaracho in Kisii County.

Residents appeals to the county government to erect bumps along the road.

Joseph Mbaitu a matatu driver who lost control along the said road said he diverted his vehicle to avoid more deaths and unfortunately rammed into a Bodaboda rider.

“It was not my intention to do this, I have never been involved into such a mess while driving, I will take all the cost to ensure that my rider gets better treatment,” promised Mbaitu.

The accident also left one of the passengers in Matatu with a fractured left leg. The two injured were taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.

Traffic Police had not arrived at the scene at the time the two were being taken to the Hospital. The locals appealed to the county government to ensure that bumps are erected on the road to curb such accidents.

Joseph Makori, a local at Maili Mbili observed that accident frequently occur along the road without the Traffic Police going to the scene as perpetrators drive scot-free to evade being arraigned in Court.

“Last week there were a number of accidents along this road and still no action is being taken by the relevant authorities who should ensure that locals and passengers’ lives are taken care of,” added Makori.

Kisii Central OCPD, Tom Mutisya has warned drivers who contravene the Traffic Rules by speeding, hit and run to evade charges saying that they will be arrested in due course.
