Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos and Ainabkoi legislator Samwel Chepkonga got a public backlash during President Uhuru Kenyatta's visit to their areas on Saturday.
Supporters of independent candidates booed the two leaders at different events that was attended by the President and his deputy.
First to be humiliated before the President was governor Tolgos who was forced to cut short his speech as some residents demanded that they be addressed by independent candidate Moses Changwony at Chepkorio Trading Center.
Tolgos tried pleading with the locals to allow him talk in order to invite Changwony but the crowed became hostile.
Changwony who was third during the Jubilee party primaries was later allowed to address the rally.
"I am vying as an independent candidate but fully support President Uhuru and his Deputy so this rumors that independents are against UhuRuto should stop from today," noted Changwony.
Few hours after governor Tolgos humiliation, another Jubilee nominee Samuel Chepkonga would find himself in a similar situation as supporters of his main rival William Chepkut booed the MP while addressing a rally at Ainabkoi.
Chepkonga lost to Chepkut in the Jubilee party primaries but won back the ticket after a repeat exercise at one polling station, Munyaka primary.
Chepkut, a longtime personal assistant to former cabinet minister Nicholas Biwott has since opted to vie as an independent candidate.
