After efforts from Kisauni Member of Parliament and the National Environment Management Authority NEMA, two Kisauni constituency schools secondary schools have been finally registered by the national government.
The registration of the schools was halted immediately after the former Member of Parliament in Kisauni Rashid Bedzimba was ousted in last year’s August general election and his CDF team could not account for the funds used to construct the school.
NEMA officials and construction engineers refused to sign the documents citing poor construction and that the contractor did not adhere to environmental safety measures before commencing his work.
On Wednesday after securing the registration of Kashani and Concordia secondary schools in Kisauni, the area MP Ali Mbogo said that an audit exercise was still underway to determine whether the school construction cost over Sh56 million as claimed by his predecessor.
Mbogo said that schools marred by construction problems could affect the students enrolled in those school and all the inspection exercises should be conducted to dispel the fear of students learning in substandard buildings.
“Engineers and other NEMA officials are still working on their reports so that we are sure the construction work was up to the standards, we do not want guesswork,” added Mbogo.
He said that the registration of the school will enable students to learn in conducive and recognized facilities.
Meanwhile, Mbogo has asked the ministry of education to send principals to the secondary schools so that learning activities are well managed.
