Students of Kisii university living in Riverside estate, woke up to a nasty morning on Tuesday after one their houses were broke into and assets worth thousand stolen by unknown people.

The incident happened past midnight after robbers who were hardly detected, broke into Cyrus Ekerosi and Douglas Nyambega's room, and stole two laptops, one desktop computer, a phone, some cash and carried away some important documents including their ATM cards.

The two, who are roommates, were asleep and noticed later that their room was empty with the door wide open early in the morning.

"We are very shocked! Thugs have stolen all our valuable. We had locked our door as usual, with the bottom lock but they have tactics to open it. Seems they used black magic on us as we did not hear anything," Cyrus said.

The area has had several cases of theft due to the large population of students who own laptops and smartphones.

Confirming the incident, Kisii university deputy security officer, Mr Zabron Kaburu, said that they will team up with Kisii Central police station to trace the suspects.

"We shall make sure the suspects have been brought to book as we shall combine efforts with the police. Their fingerprints will help us," said Kaburu.

So far no suspected has been arrested.
