Two men suspected of belonging to a land fraud syndicate in Marani area Kisii County have been taken into custody.

Marani police boss Benjamin Kimwele said police officers impounded a car, fake title deeds and a rubber stamp with the name of Kisii County Land registrar Steve Mokaya on Sunday.

“The 2 suspects are in custody helping us to get more before we arraign them to court,” he said.

Kimwele said the suspects have been involved in forging of letters from chiefs in succession rows.

“The suspects are dangerous and should not be allowed anymore. They are fake land dealers tricking land buyers to buy other people’s lands and we suspect they have been helping cartel to grab public land,” he added.

He urged members of the public to report anyone they may be suspecting is part of the group for arrests to be made immediately.
