Despite appearance of senior Counsel James Orengo in presidential petition, two outstanding lawyers may have turned the case in favour of Raila Odinga.
During his brief speech at the Supreme Court, Odinga collectively hailed a number of lawyers who worked on the petition which saw Supreme Court annulling election of Uhuru Kenyatta.
But throughout the submission and in guidance of Orengo, Lawyers Otiende Amollo and Pheroze Nowrojee received tributes from thousands of opposition supporters even before the ruling.
Otiende, who is Rarieda MP, is not a stranger in corridors of court given that at some point he served as Ombudsman, an office he held until recently.
At the court, he confined himself to electoral fraud and malpractices which judges agreed while Orengo confined himself to the breach of constitution.
On the other hand, Pheroze, a lawyer of Indian origin and perhaps the oldest in Odinga’s legal team, used only 40 minutes to wrap up the case as it was presented by his colleagues.
Also in the strong legal team included Nyamira senator Okong’o Mogeni who dealt with political aspect while Paul Mwangi was in charge of case law.
