The two women were nabbed by Administration Police (AP) officers with illicit brews packed in small bottles and polythene bags.

Confirming the arrest, Limuru AP commander Michael Ndegwa said the two women are aiding police with investigations.

He said the two were arrested following a tip off from a member of the public.

“We believe they (suspects) are distributors of the illicit brews and they will lead us to the source of the brews,” he said.

Mr Ndegwa warned illicit brewers re-introducing illicit liquor saying that they will not be tolerated.

He asked local chiefs to intensify the fight against brewers.

The suspects were taken to Karithomo police post as investigations into the source of the brews launched.

The war on illicit brews was intensified in July last year after President Uhuru Kenyatta called for a crackdown on brewers especially in Central Kenya.

The one month crackdown saw thousands liters of illicit brews and illegal alcohol products destroyed.

Ever since, cases of brewing have reduced in some parts of the country with alcohol addicts being rehabilitated.

However several cases of illicit brews re-emerging have been reported in several parts of Kiambu.

On Thursday, Gladys Chania, an anti-drug crusader in Kiambu warned that alcohol reformists could relapse back to drinking if they are not given employment and kept busy.

Chania called on the government and community at large to empower drug addicts who have reformed to avoid cases of relapse.
