Alim Light School has emerged the top in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
The school, which registered 80 students, had a performing index of 57.72 emerging position 57 nationally. Machakos Boys took the second position at the county level and 68th position at the national level with a performing index of 56.49 after registering 218 students for the examinations.
While releasing the results of the KCPE on Wednesday, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i said that the number of students who got above C+ reduced from88,929 (15.41 per cent) to 70,073 (11.38 per cent).
“Overall, the number of candidates with minimum university entry qualification of Mean Grade C+ and above is 70,073 (11.38 per cent) in the 2017 KCSE examination compared to 88,929 (15.41 per cent) in 2016,” said Dr Matiang’i, as quoted by Daily Nation.
Girls’ schools dominated the top positions following the release of the results.
