Two malls under construction in Nairobi allegedly belonging to a high-ranking National Youth Service (NYS) official are among assets the government is seeking to seize.

This is part of a crackdown over the loss of over sh9 billion. 

The Assets and Recovery Agency is said to be profiling the multi-million shilling malls on Kangundo Road among other properties such as plots and cars before moving to court. The courts are expected to be issue orders to freeze the assets.

While the Government moves to freeze the bank accounts of suspects, several properties the accused own have been earmarked for seizure by the multi-agency team.

According to the agency, 24 cars belonging to a businessman linked to the graft scandal has been flagged as well. 

Further reports indicate that the businessman was detained alongside his wife.

The wife was recently barred from leaving the country and they are expected to appear in court on Tuesday to face charges of theft and fraud.
