Two men were arraigned in a Thika Law Court on Thursday for allegedly assaulting a woman in Kiaume Village, Kiambu County.

The two accused (Joseph Ndung’u Muindi and Joseph Ndonye Karumbu) appeared before Thika Resident Magistrate Esther W. Mburu after they were accused of causing bodily harm to Susan Kalondu, 45 by beating her using walking sticks.

They allegedly walked into Kalondu’s house in January 29, 2015 at 9.00pm and started beating her. The accused are said to be feuding over a land raw.

The court heard that the complainant was preparing super before the two broke into her house and started beating her mercilessly before she managed to escape to her neighbour’s house after pushing the two aside.

The Court’s Prosecutor Stella Oyagi said that P III Examination showed that Susan suffered soft tissue injuries resulting from the beating from the two accused.

The duo however, pleaded innocent saying that the complainant is a drunkard and always disrupts peace in the remote village after taking alcohol.

The two were released on a cash bail of Sh50,000 each. The final ruling was slated in May 12 2015.
