Two men were arrested in Mililuni area of Yatta Sub-County after they were allegedly found breaking into a shop on Saturday night.
Confirming the incident through a phone interview, Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang said that the two suspects had broken into one shop in the area when they were caught by neighbours who called the police.
According to the OCPD, a neighbour who witnessed the break-in raised alarm alerting people who gathered and caught the suspects surrendering them to the police.
Kipsang said that one of the suspects tried to escape, but the crowd managed to get to him.
"The two suspects had successfully broken into a shop when they were caught by people who later called the police and the two were arrested," said Kipsang.
Kipsang, thanked the residents who caught the suspects for not taking the law in their hands. The two are being held at the Matuu police station as they await to face burglary charges on Monday.
