Police in Thika west are investigating the murder of two men were gunned down by unknown people along the Thika-Makongeni road.

The two who have been living in Pilot Estate are said to have been heading home at around 10pm last night when they were ambushed by a group of men who began shooting at them before leaving them for dead and escaping in a private saloon car.

According to a matatu driver who sought anonymity due to fear of intimidation, the two alighted from his vehicle at Pilot stage and headed towards Pilot estate before they heard gun shots.

He added that the gang was shooting aimlessly at everyone who was around killing the two instantly and later escaped in a saloon car that is reported to have been parked at the scene for about three hours.

Confirming the incident, area OCPD Francis Muthamia, said that the police on patrol called the police station and reported having heard gun shots and he sent officers at the scene where they found the men lying dead.

He condemned the act saying that the police have launched investigations and security will be beefed up in the area.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to General Kago Morgue.
