President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday left thousands of his supporters shocked after using only two minutes, contrary to his norm.
Kenyatta had earlier addressed a roadside rally at Malinya market, the home turf of Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale.
And a visibly angry president used only two minutes at full to capacity Bukhungu stadium despite the long wait by the locals before walking to his official Limousine.
But he took a swipe at the opposition team by accusing them of engaging in insults instead of offering solutions to the country.
“I do not want to engage in such primitive politics. I will continue implementing a number of projects that I had promised you,” said Uhuru, who also announced injection of Sh500 million to ailing Mumias Sugar.
He further said: “I have given some amount to Mumias before and also Kakamega Hospital. We have opened a number of roads and that is why I plead for your support.”
The Kakamega tour came slightly a week after the Head of State pitched tent at neighboring Bungoma, a region also perceived as opposition stronghold.
Kenyatta is seeing a re-election and is facing stiff competition from his main challenger Raila Odinga of NASA coalition.
