Nicholas Mutuku John and David Musyoki Nziu were arraigned as Joseph Mbugua, James Ndichu Mburu and Samuel Kamau Maina were also charged on the same day.

“The respondents were arrested at a yard which they own in possession of assorted railway parts,”said Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecution Alexander Muteti.

If convicted by the court, the suspects risk a death sentence.

This is after President Uhuru Kenyatta warned, while launching the SGR, that anyone caught vandalising the rail network will be hanged.
