In the case, Former Riruta MCA Samwel Ndung’u was being accused of allegedly being involved in the killing of his 24-year-old wife, Ms Lucy Njambi.

Prosecution counsel Jane Maari filed an application to have the accused detained for more days following the new developments.

Prosecutor Maari told the court that they were not ready to continue with the case and that the police need more time to complete their investigations.

Kiambu District Criminal Investigation Officer Paul Wambugu told the court that they need more than seven days to interrogate the two suspects who will assist in arresting the rest of the culprits.

Mr Wambugu and the prosecution opposed the application by the defence to have the accused person released on bail saying if released he would interfere with the ongoing investigations to arrest other suspects who are still at large.

Kiambu High Court Judge Joel Ngugi ordered for the accused to be detained until March 1 when three witnesses will give their testimony.

Mr Ndung’u was being accused that on January 24, 2017 he was involved in the killing of his wife, Ms Njambi at Kiambu Sub County.

The wife was abducted by a gang of men and later found at Kamiti Corner seriously injured and she was taken to Kiambu Hospital before being referred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where she died.

Ms Njambi was reported to have been raped and later doused with acid by a gang of three who had picked her up from her home in Thindigua estate in Kiambu town.
