Residents of Mai Mahiu in Naivasha sub-county were left mourning after two motorcycle operators perished in a road accident, Monday evening.
The two died on the spot after colliding along the Naivasha-Mai Mahiu road.
The accident occurred after one of the motorcycles was overtaking a trailer but ended up hitting another motorcycle that was coming from the opposite direction.
In the process, the two operators died on the spot while a woman passenger was thrown meters away and left nursing injuries.
A witness, Peter Mburu said: "One of the motorcycle operators who was ferrying a passenger was riding at a very high speed when the accident occurred."
“Unfortunately, the two drivers died on the spot while the woman was seriously injured and rushed to hospital in critical condition,” he said.
Naivasha OCPD Titus Munyoki confirmed the accident adding that the bodies had been collected and taken to the Naivasha sub-county hospital mortuary.
Munyoki attributed the accident to careless driving and overtaking adding that the injured woman was in stable condition.
“The accident occurred after one of the motorcycle operators tried to overtake a trailer but ended up ramming into another incoming motorcycle,” he said.
