According to the Gathogo, Roysambu MP Waihenya Ndirangu, who owns a popular restaurant in the area has allegedly partnered with the top Kiambu County administration among them Ruiru sub-county administrator Abdi Mohammed in grabbing the public land.

She added that the administrator has been working together with area OCPD Isaac Thuranira in disrupting her constituents’ peace while at work in the grabbed piece of land.

“Ruiru Sub-County top officials have ‘eaten’ a lot from this project and we will kick them out if they don’t act immediately. They are very corrupt and have been collaborating with the police to harass these people,” she said.

Gathogo noted with concern that the restaurant owned by the MP is on a road reserve and that the grabbed land has already been built on with business stalls that are already complete and ready for work.

According to Njoroge Kanyingi, a victim and a resident who sells charcoal on the grabbed piece of land, they have been paying levies daily to the municipal council and the county government for the last 40 years they have been operating from the area.

An attempt to storm the sub-county offices by the MP and the irate residents was fruitless as all the sub-county heads fled the office after they allegedly heard the demonstrators heading their way.

The officials were not available for a response either as they didn’t pick our phone calls or reply to our text messages.
