Located just outside the Eldoret Central Business District (CBD) is Uasin Gishu county's academic giant Moi girls high school.

Named in honor of the retired president Daniel Arap Moi who served as the chairman of the board of management for about forty years, the school was established in 1928 by the white settlers.

The first African students were admitted in 1965 and since then, the school has triumphed both in academic and sports. It is currently one of the best girls' secondary school in Kenya.

Esther Murugi

She is the former Member of Parliament for Nyeri town. She was elected to parliament in 2007 on a Party o National Unity (PNU) ticket and in 2013 on a The National Alliance (TNA) party ticket. Murugi also served as a Cabinet Minister for special programmes and also the Cabinet Minister for Gender and Children's affairs. Esther Murugi studied at Moi girls from 1967 to 1972.

Phylis Jepkosgei Kandie

Born in Baringo county, Phylis Kandie attended Moi girls Eldoret before proceeding to Saint Mary's University in Canada for a bachelor degree in commerce.

She was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 as the Cabinet Secretary for East African Affairs, Commerce, and Tourism but after the cabinet reshuffle Najib Balala became the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and she was left to head the East African Affairs and Labour docket. In 2018 she was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta as Ambassador to Belgium.
