With only a week to elections, lead presidential candidates Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta would yet again face each other in a titanic battle in Nyanza region, which is perceived to be an opposition stronghold.
Both sides have toured their traditional support bases to rally for high voter turnout besides penetrating in regions believed to be ‘hostile’.
But in Nyanza, Odinga is facing a major battle to keep President Kenyatta off in Kisii and Nyamira counties which have a cumulative 850, 000 votes.
Although the region voted for Odinga predominantly in 2013, a major tussle could be witnessed given inroads that the Jubilee administration has made in the region.
Already, Uhuru toured Nyamira on Friday and on Monday; he was scheduled to hold a series of rallies that will culminate in Kisii Town.
Having toured the region a fortnight ago, Odinga was scheduled to hold a rally in Kisii town on Monday but rescheduled it to Tuesday to avoid conflict of interests with Jubilee administration.
