Majengo roadside food vendors have been put on notice to maintain hygiene while cooking and dispensing their food.
Area MCA Morris Mburu has warned Majengo residents to be keen of the way they cook and disperse their food.
This is after two people admitted at Thika level five were reported to consume poisoned food in a Majengo food Kiosk.
Talking to residents Tuesday morning Mburu said that food poisoning is a threat to human life and can cause death.
He warned the cooks from selling bad or uncooked food that may cost lives of fellow citizens.
“We all want money but let us earn it in a genuine way. Selling raw or rotten food so as to make money is inhuman and deserves punishment by the law. The two who consumed poisoned food are recovering and I plead with you that this be the last case of food poisoning in Majengo. We need each other let’s build the nation in a peaceful way,”Mburu said.
Majengo area has recently grown with many people setting up small businesses to earn a living.
The rate of crime has also reduced in a significant way where many people have opted to employ themselves through small kiosks.
