The national government has allocated two percent of its total Gross domestic Program (GDP) towards research.

This translates to at least Sh68 billion each financial year .

Education Permanent Secretary Belio Kipsang said that the money would go towards research in education, health and environmental sector.

“We want to invest heavily into ensuring that the quality of higher education is improved and hence a lot of money has been allocated towards research and into ensuring that the curriculum being used is of the right standards," he said.

Kipsang was speaking on Tuesday after he officially opened a three-day workshop at the Merica hotel in Nakuru Dubbed “Education Evidence for Action Conference 2015”.

He added that there was an urgent need to review the education curriculum, which was last done 13 years ago, to align it with the new constitution and the vision 2030.

He however stressed that the government was working with the private organisations to spearhead the research

“Limited resources have forced us to look into ways to ensure that proper research is carried out by organisations," he added.

He retaliated the government’s commitment to ensure that the quality of professionals in all sectors in the county was maintained.

“We want to ensure that The standards are well maintained,” he added.
