Two police officers are nursing injuries at a Nairobi hospital after being attacked by a mob of youth in Kibera.
Confirming the incident on Wednesday Nairobi police boss, Joseph Koome has said that the reason behind the attack is yet to be established.
According to Koome, the police officers were attacked while patrolling the railway line when the mob ascended on them.
Part of the mob is said to have driven into the slums chanting.
The officers on patrol were forced to shoot in the air in order to disperse the rowdy youth who were making it difficult for them to conduct their patrol.
Koome added that police are finding it difficult to patrol the area due to constant confrontation by the youth with some of them being heavily armed.
Koome addressing the press on Wednesday said that they are working together with local leaders to ensure there is good relationship between the police and the local community.
"There seem to be uncalled for bad blood between us and the locals but we are engaging local leaders to solve any such differences," said Koome.
