Although they live in completely different parts of the world in terms of geopolitics of the country, lawyers Paul Muite and James Orengo have a history surrounded with strong ideological believes.
In 90s, the two served in Ford Kenya and participated in pluralism that brought about repealing of Section 2A of the old constitution.
And dictates later, the two leaders, who served as MPs in Kabete and Ugenya respectively, found themselves in the opposing side in the legal field.
While Orengo was the lead lawyer who challenged the manner in which August 8 elections were held on behalf of his multiparty comrade Raila Odinga, Muite stood with the body that was in charge of election.
Sharply they differed; Orengo carried the ultimate prize when the Supreme Court nullified election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
And with his legal career blossoming, his friend, Muite, could find himself in unfamiliar position following a huge setback in a case that was followed worldwide.
In his own admission at an interview, Muite acknowledged having slept in trenches with Orengo when running away from authoritarian regime of Daniel Moi.
