Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli and Republic of South Africa's deputy Cyril Ramaphosa are believed to have advised Raila odinga against parallel swearing-in, a source privy to Odinga's itinerary has revealed.

Prior to Saturday's Maanzoni meeting, a section of NASA supporters and leaders had vowed to ensure Odinga takes oath.

"Raila has done a big mistake and he will live to regret. Power is taken and not given," wrote Miguna Miguna.

But Magufuli and Ramaphosa are believed to have been concerned about Odinga's international image hence strongly opposing it.

Although South Africa's top two will not be in Kasarani, Pombe will however be in the country despite his standoff with Uhuru Kenyatta.

"They were a bit concerned about Odinga's international image and they advised him against taking an oath," said the source, who also works as a senior lawyer in ODM.

Despite Odinga's decision to drop his plans, he will however attend a memorial service of people who are believed to have been shot by the police.
