Two prison warders are being held by police in Machakos town on suspicion of fanning the recent wave of insecurity in the town and its surrounding environs.
According to Henry Ndombi, the Machakos District Criminal Investigations Officer, the two prison warders are attached to the Machakos GK prison.
Police detectives say duo are believed to be the faces behind separate incidents of murder involving four-night guards at Muumandu, Mjini, Katoloni and Eastleigh areas in the last two weeks.
Ndombi said the two warders and two other civilian suspects were being interrogated in a bid to establish their illegal networks before being arraigned in the courts to face criminal charges.
The DCIO further called on the public o be vigilant noting that two other members of the deadly gang were still at large.
"Two more members of this criminal gang that we suspect is responsible for the series of robberies in Machakos town are still at large, but we are very certain that we will get hold of them right from their hideouts," added Ndombi.
