Police in Kikuyu sub-county yesterday night arrested two suspects alleged to be part of the ‘Raia’ gang that has been terrorising residents in the recent past. Speaking in his office today, the Kikuyu OCPD SSP Mutune Maweu said that the two were arrested by police in patrol last night at King’eroarea.
The OCPD added that at the time of arrested the two were found in possession of machetes and knives that police suspect were involved in indulging in the crime. The police boss explained that on interrogations and investigations the suspects were suspected to be part of the gang. However he added that the two identified their homes where valuables were recovered. “We are still doing our investigations and the other members of the gang we are still working to bring them to book. We are not going to allow residents be destructed by a few young people who have lost focus of life and engage in criminal activities,” said Maweu. Therefore he concluded by mentioning that the two will be charged in accordance to the law and added that other criminals will soon follow soot. Speaking to James Njenga a resident at King’ero, Kikuyu sub-county said that he was happy with the police efforts as the group has been a danger to the area residents.
He explained that they had sleepless nights due to the fear of the gang. However Maureen Wanjiru hailed the police for working to curb crime in the area.
She added that police should continue with the same efforts to curb criminal activities in the area.
He however added that youths should engage in businesses other than engaging in crime for quick money that may lead them to jail or the grave.
