President Uhuru Kenyatta’s coinciding tour at the Coastal region with that one of NASA was key behind opposition’s decision to cancel planned tour in Mombasa and Kwale Counties.
While Uhuru has been leading vigorous campaigns across the country ahead of repeat polls, Raila Odinga however, has only mainly been reaching his supporters through Press Conferences.
But Odinga cancelled his Saturday’s tour to Mombasa and another one planned on Sunday at Kwale due to Uhuru’s planned tour on Sunday.
“We want them to finish rallies first before we go there. We do not want to share same region concurrently,” said Dennis Onyango, Raila Odinga’s spokesman.
He further said:” Due to the political temperatures, we want to ensure no confrontation whatsoever takes place anywhere.”
Also, the Sunday Nation reports that Odinga cancelled the tour due to absence of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho who was to travel out of the country on Saturday.
With the repeat poll around the corner, Odinga is said to be planning for a public lecture tour to UK later on this week.
