Two rhinos said to have wandered from the Nairobi National Park have been spotted at the Kitengela primary boarding school in Kajiado.
According to The Star, the rhinos were spotted grazing near a dormitory at 4 am by night guards who informed area chief Christopher Mutunkei and MCA Daniel Kanchori, who called KWS officers.
"I called KWS soon after I was informed and they slowly drove the animals back to the national park,” said the chief.
The MCA decried an increase in cases of lions and other wild animals straying from the park to Kitengela plains.
“Our people have lost their livestock to wild cats and yet KWS does not act fast in compensating farmers ,” said Kanchori.
The chief attributed the recent cases of herbivorous leaving the park to various salt licks sites along River Orng’arua, commonly known as River Athi.
This comes after a stray lion was shot dead in March after attacking and injuring a bodaboda operator in Isinya Town, Kajiado County.
