Rugby stars Lawrence Frank Wanyama and Alex Mahaga Olaba on Monday appeared in court, where they were accused of gang rape.
The two could be in for a lengthy stay in prison after they were formally charged with raping a lady in February.
The lady in question, musician Wendy Kemunto took to her social media to accuse the two of raping and abusing her at Wanyama’s apartment after a night out.
The lady conceived from the ordeal and has since sought to have the two punished for the offense.
The two, however, denied the allegations, and Office of the Director of Public Prosecution moved in to investigate the matter.
“On the 11th day of February 2018 at Seefa apartment in Highrise area within Nairobi County, jointly intentionally and unlawfully caused their penis to penetrate the vagina of W.A without her consent,” the charge sheet against Wanyama and Olaba presented before the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Milimani read.
The prosecution has lined-up 15 witnesses including the accuser who will testify against the players, with six listed on the charge sheet and the rest to be named later.
In their defense, Wanyama and Obada claimed the sex was consensual and the budding singer was attempting to extort them before she went public with the accusations.
