Two people were on Thursday shot by armed thugs who raided a mobile phone shop at Kona Mbaya area, Langas estate on the outskirts of Eldoret town.
Langas OCPD Waqo Abduba confirmed the incident saying the two, a man and a woman were shot when the thugs stormed the shop at around 7:30 pm.
“The victims had raised alarm to attract members of the public to rescue the shop owner who was being robbed. The thugs shot the two in the legs before they fled,” said the OCPD.
Victims were rushed to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) where they are being treated.
The OCPD said investigations into the incident had begun and assured locals that the culprits will be arrested and prosecuted.
“We are doing everything possible to arrest the criminals who escaped with 40 phones whose value is yet to be established and Sh10,000 cash from the shop,” Abduba noted.
“Members of the public should not keep quiet. They should help police to arrest the criminals who have been conducting a series of robbery in the area,” he added.
