Two sisters were on Tuesday arraigned in a court in Nakuru to face assault charges, after they were arrested Monday evening for allegedly attacking a bar attendant and inflicting serious bodily harm on Sunday.
The prosecution desk told Chief Resident Magistrate Felix Kombo that the two, Meresa Wangare, 29, and Hariet Njeri, 26 stormed a drinking joint at Shaabab estate within Nakuru town at around 1pm on Sunday January 25, and assaulted one Nancy Waithera, whom they accused of having a love affair with one of the sister’s husband, who frequents the drinking joint.
According to the prosecution desk, the accused also destroyed property while causing a breach of peace at the business place as they indulged in a physical confrontation with the complainant. The court heard that one of the accused, Wangare was armed with a kitchen knife and threatened to stab the complainant whom she accused of having a love affair with her husband.
The magistrate was told that the accused caused grievous bodily harm to the complainant, after they attacked her with empty bottles and furniture, but they were restrained by patrons in the bar who also called the bar owner.
The complainant later reported the matter to Nakuru Central Police Station, and sort medical attention.
She was advised to fill a P3 form by police officers on duty, before the accused were arrested Monday evening.
The accused denied the charges and were released on a cash bond of Sh60,000 each.
The case will be heard on February 24.
