Two suspected Somali men were yesterday apprehended by Gatundu police officers on patrol in Gathithi Village.

The two, Hussein Muhammed and Abdikadir Suleiman were arrested at Gathithi Shopping Centre after running on seeing the police.

According to the area District Commissioner Daniel Nyamiti, the two had a pistol which is suspected to have been used in committing crimes in the area.

The two are said to have been working in the area hawking body sprays and other items.

“The two were arrested this afternoon and they had a pistol. The two were hawking but fled on seeing the police,” said Nyamiti.

The area according to the commissioner has become a hot spot where all sorts of crimes are committed including defilement, assault, theft with violence among others.

He however urged the residents to continue giving the police full information of suspicious people and also report crimes committed in their specific places.

The two suspects were detained at the Gatundu main police station awaiting to be arraigned in court to be charged with handling illegal weapons.
