Two students from Milo Boys’ Secondary School in Webuye West constituency, Bungoma county were on Monday arraigned in Bungoma law courts and charged with arson.The two who are form three students are accused of setting ablaze a section of a dormitory in their school last Wednesday.No casualties were reported as all students were in class for their evening preps.Appearing before senior principal magistrate Mwangi Muraguri, the students denied the charges and were were each released on a Sh50,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.Speaking to journalists at the court, a father to one of the accused students defended his son saying he is harmless.“I know my son. He cannot even harm a fly. I am ready for this case if they have enough evidence,” said the parent.The matter will be mentioned on September 25 and while the hearing has been slated for December 19 and 22.Bungoma East Knut secretary general Aggrey Namisi condemned the incident saying investigations should be carried out to prevent future fires.“As a union, we are against such behaviour and we want justice to take its course so that all those who are behind the incident, including any teacher and neighbours who sold the petrol and matchbox to the students, are arrested,” Namisi said.
