Two students from Nyagokiani Secondary School were arraigned in a Nyamira court charged with attempt to burn a dormitory on Sunday evening.
The students both aged 17, pleaded guilty to the charges read to them by Senior Resident magistrate Rene Kitagwa.
According to the charge sheet, the two are accused of trying to set ablaze a dormitory on the night of July 11, in Nyagokiani Secondary School against the laws of Kenya.
The court heard that they were in possession of petrol which was in a jerrican and a matchbox, with the intent of burning a dormitory of which they pleaded guilty to.
On the first account, the duo are accused of attempting to burn a school property -a dormitory- using a matchbox and petrol whereas on the second account, they are accused of trying to destroy evidence.
The prosecution said they threw away the jerrican with petrol and matchbox an account they pleaded guilty to.
The two were remanded at Manga Children's Home and Rehabilitation centre until Friday after the prosecution asked for more time to gather evidence.
Six others who were arrested over the same incident were freed after denying the charges.
