Two Maseno students have been compelled by the university administration to meet damages caused to John Otini a Maseno landlord of Runda estate.

The two third year students are alleged to have interfered with the lighting system of the room, a switch, damaged the bed, and the door.

They are also alleged to not have completed paying rent of the past last two consecutive semesters.

Mr Otini was forced to forward the two to the school administration after they refused to pay the money they owed him and also refusing to vacate the plot claiming they had their rights protecting them against forceful eviction.

The school administration through the dean of students welfare, Wilfrey Siayi ordered the two to pay the money they owed the landlord within two weeks and meet the damages cost, apologise to him or face disciplinary action.

The two however, claimed they had paid the landlord the Sh8,000 he claimed to owe them.

“He is just exploiting us and taking advantage that we are students who can’t defend ourselves. We also know of our rights,” said Jacob Ouko one of them.

They are waiting for official communication as the carpenter and electrician access the damages which they are expected to meet.

They were also evicted from the room.
