Two children died earlier on Sunday at the Kaplong Mission Hospital while receiving treatment.
The two reportedly took stale food during a pass out event of initiates in Sotik Constituency with 200 others also admitted at the same hospital.
Bomet County Medical Services Chief Officer Bernard Sowek said that the two children succumbed to dehydration while undergoing treatment.
"They were admitted here but succumbed to dehydration. The medical team tried to do all they could but unfortunately, they did not make it in time," he said.
Sotik MP Joyce Laboso who also doubles as National assembly Deputy Speaker visited the victims and urged locals to observe hygiene while consuming food.
"It is quite unfortunate that we can lose lives carelessly from a situation that we can control. it is important to observe proper hygiene when taking food to avoid such incidents," Laboso said.
