A combined effort by members of the public and Provincial Administration officers managed to net over 1,500 litres of illicit liquor at the notorious Kiamaina Slum in Bahati Constituency.
The successful swoop was conducted in the wee hours of Friday morning by Kiamaina Chief Peter Kariuki with the assistance of two administration officers.
Kariuki said that they managed to recover the brew and arrested two female suspects.
“The early morning operation was fruitful and we netted the illegal liquor packed in two big plastic drums, “said Kariuki.
He said that the fight against the sale of illegal liquor would continue and intensified as the festive season approaches.
“This is the month when youth indulge in drinking spree. The Provincial Administration will do every thing to contain the situation,” said Kariuki.
The administrator thanked the members of the public who provided the vital information and urged them to continue cooperating with the administration to eradicate the sale of chang’aa.
He added that they will initiate a public forum in the location to educate the residents against the dangers of changa’aa.
The two suspect are expected to be arraigned to court to to charges of illegal liquor possession and sale.
