Police in Nairobi have recovered a gun belonging to a police2man who was robbed of the weapon last year in Ruaraka.
The gun was found when police shot dead two suspected thugs in a botched robbery incident in Kariobangi on Tuesday night.
Police said the duo were in the company of three others and had been attacking and robbing residents when an alarm was raised.
"Our officers on patrol were alerted by the alarm and on rushing to the scene of crime, they shot dead the two. The other three managed to escape on foot," said Starehe police commander Alice Kimeli.
She said the police are still pursuing the thugs who escaped and sent a strong warning to criminals to flee the area or face the full wrath of law.
The bodies were moved to the mortuary.
