Lari OCS Peter Ouko has vowed to eradicate bhang smoking in the area.
This follows the arrest of two suspects on Thursday in their house in Lari.
Police found 246 rolls of bhang during the raid and the two are suspected to be suppliers of the drug in the area.
Speaking in his office, Ouko said the two were arrested following a tip of from a resident.
He said bhang smoking had become a menace in the area especially among youths and vowed to end the vice.
The OCS said his officers will work tirelessly to bring to book those who are engaged in the illegal business.
He said the arrest of the two was just the beginning of the war on drugs, adding that they hope the suspects will provide the police with information about the illegal trade.
He said a section of parents had complained that their children were engaging in the vice through the influence of their peers.
"This fight is not going to be complete without the residents’ input. We need to work together for the better of the future generation. I urge residents to work closely with the police to end this menace by reporting of any suspicious people and acts around them," Ouko said.
He said the crackdown aims to save the children especially at such a time when most of them are at home as a result of the teachers strike.
He said the suspects will be arraigned in court tomorrow.
