Two people have died in a road accident along the Thika Matuu highway in Machakos County.

The accident involving a bus and lorry occurred on Tuesday when the bus driver was trying to overtake another vehicle at Kwa Makaa area.

Confirming the accident Yatta OCPD Edward Kipsang, said that the bus was forced to roll out of the road several times after coming into contact with the lorry.

According to Kipsang a 12-years-old girl who was in the bus died on the spot while a 17-year-old boy died minutes after he was admitted at Matuu level 4 hospital.

Four of those who were injured in the accident are said to be in a critical condition while 11 others were slightly injured.

Kipsang added that many of those who were in the bus were students from different schools who were going back to school following the opening of schools for the second term.

Kipsang has called on drivers using this road to be careful and drive slowly when they reach Kwa Makaa stating the area has recorded a lot of accidents.

The injured were taken to Matuu level 4 hospital for further treatment while those in critical condition were taken to Machakos level 5 hospital.
