The fate of Mombasa governor Hassan Joho now lies in the hand of detectives who are probing certificate forging claims.
On Wednesday, while appearing before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Mombasa to shed more light on the matter that might lock him out of the August general election if found guilty.
It has now emerged detectives ordered Joho to provide two things from him in order to prove his innocence.
According to the Standard, detectives demanded Joho to provide samples of his handwriting and signature.
Experts are set to analyze the samples against hand-written sections of a document police allege was a forgery Joho used to gain admission to the University of Nairobi.
The governor is accused of forging his KCSE results slip, a claim he has denied.
On Tuesday, Joho publicly admitted that he scored a D- (minus) from Serani Secondary School in Mombasa.
