New details have emerged regarding the shock resignation of Nairobi Deputy governor Polycarp Igathe.
According to Standard, Igathe was frustrtaed by a number of things working under Sonko.
The paper reports that Igathe was frustrted after Sonko decided to fill a high ranking position in the county. Sonko is said to have the position contrary to Igathe's expectation.
Igathe had argued that since he was a corporate executive he was best placed to recruit whoever was to be given the job.
The move is set to have left Igathe frustrated and he made it clear during the CEC induction in Mombasa on Thursday.
“He said he can leave this job to them if they want it,” a source is quoted by the Standard.
Igathe is said to have left Mombasa for Nairobi, leaving CEC's behind.
Secondly Igathe is said to have been frustrated after being turned into an errand boy for Sonko.“Sonko is running everything and Igathe feels his skills are not being utilised. He has tried severally to come up with a team he can work with but Sonko’s machinery have stood on the way,” said the source.
On Friday, Igathe resigned stating that he had failed to earn the trust of the governor.
“Dear Nairobians, it is with heavy heart that I resign my seat as the deputy governor of Nairobi City County,” said Igathe.
