Two women accused of aiding two secondary school girls to procure abortion were Tuesday evening arrested at Nyabisawa trading centre in Migori.
Linet Imbayo and another only identified as Ruth were arrested by police after one of the female students at Kikoma Mixed Secondary School in the region who had gone for abortion services was found in pain inside a house rented by one of the accused.
Confirming the incident, the area chief Mr.Barack Ogaja said they found the schoolgirl who was reeling in pain bedridden in the house.
Ogaja said the student who had secretly visited the lady to seek for their abortion services called the parents to inform them about her ordeal.
According to the chief, the form four student left home for school on Sunday but instead branched to the woman's houses to seek abortion services without the knowledge of her parents.
After interrogating the student, chief Ogaja said she revealed that her pain came about after she took a drug identified as Cycotec which was given to her by the accused at a cost of Sh.1,000.
The chief added that the student also revealed that there was another student from the same school who had sought abortion services from the accused a week ago.
