Two women from Kitui County have claimed that they were arrested and beaten by Administration Police officers over misconduct in church.

According to The Star, the women are nursing wounds after they allegedly insulted a man of God.

The duo was arrested on Wednesday after the cleric reported the matter to the security officers over misconduct.

Irene Kambua one of the complainants told the press that the pastor had framed them for leaving his church as a ‘punishment for their sins’.

Confirming the incident, Kitui county AP commander Benson Wasike said that the two had filed an official complaint with the police but they later withdrew the case.

The women’s complaint had been recorded in the Occurrence Book at the Kitui police station as number 60/1/11/2017.

“The matter has been closed because we cannot pursue a complaint that has already been withdrawn,” Wasike said.

The commander also said that he had asked the two to take the matter to the area chief for legal action to be taken where possible.

“We advised the affected parties to take the matter to the chief,” Wasike said.
