Two women were on Monday found killed in separate incidents in Marani and Kisii South sub-counties.
A 40 year old, was dragged from her house in Riabotenene Village, Nyabworoba sub location, Sensi Location by unidentified persons before being strangled at an unknown place.
Her body was later found dumped along the road in the neighboring Samogara Village, about 2 kilometers away.
“We received a report from the assistant chief of Nyabworoba sub location Mr Moses Onkware that the body of a woman had been discovered lying along a footpath in a village 2 kilometres away from her home. The body had strangulation marks around the neck,” said County Police Commander Agnes Mudambi.
According to Mr Onkware, the deceased was attacked by two men at her home last evening.
“As they struggled with the deceased, her four year old daughter managed to escape from the scene and run to a friend’s home about 500 meters away from the scene,” said Mr Onkware.
The minor related the events that had transpired to her mother’s friend, who then notified the administrator.
"I rushed to the team with a group comprising of community policing members from the village. By the time we arrived, the assailants had left with the woman," said Mr Onkware.
A search of the area yielded no answers, forcing the group to seek for help from neighbouring villages.
Later, we were told that an unidentified woman fitting the description of the deceased had been found strangled near a footpath in the neighbouring Samogara village.
During the recording of her statement with the police, the minor is said to have positively identified one of the attackers as a nephew to the deceased. He is said to be living in Transmara.
Investigators working on the case suspect she could have been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped at the spot where it was discovered.
“Police are looking for the suspect to assist them with investigation that will unravel the mystery behind her death. Although he was not known to have been present during themidnight incident, we are looking for him based on the minor’s statement,” said Ms Mudambi.
The body was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.
Meanwhile, a 31 year old woman was found bludgeoned to death by unkown people in Gesonso, Bogitaa sub location, Kisii South sub-county.
She suspected to have been killed a few metres from her house.
