Two construction workers were on Tuesday arraigned in a court in Nakuru, to answer charges of conspiring to steal construction materials valued at Sh20,000 from a building site.
Julius Ingosi, 29, and Mauris Njuguna, 35, however denied the charges, and were released on a Sh10,000 cash bond each before the hearing of the case on May 18.
According to the prosecution desk, the accused stole three bags of cement, ten electrical pipes, fifty metres of electric wires and several pieces of floor tiles belonging to Njukagi Construction Company on the evening of April 18 this year, while on duty at pipeline estate.
The presiding Chief Resident Magistrate Samuel Mungai was told that the first accused, who was in charge of the store conspired with the second accused, who was employed as a driver at the construction site to unlawfully remove the said items from the site with an intention of selling them at a throw away prices to other construction materials dealers.
The court heard that the accused were arrested by police from Lanet Police station on Sunday April 19, after the manager of the company was informed by another construction worker about the incident.
The accused, the prosecution desk said were arrested while entertaining themselves at a local drinking joint and directed the police and the company’s manager where they were hiding the items.
