One group led by Thomson Osoro from Rigena Human Rights Society which was in a meeting at the hotel were planning how to go about their protest against the county government as another group stormed in.

The lobby group wanted Governor James Ongwae to account for the expenditure of Sh32 billion allocated to the county government since the start of devolution but the other group defended Ongwae by singing slogans painting him as a corruption free governor.

According to the group which had earlier planned the demonstration they claimed the county government has encouraged corruption in the country hence they need an explanation on how the money has been spent for the last 4 financial years.

“We want the county leaders to explain on how they have spent the money since there are many stalled projects as we are going to the other election,” said Osoro.

The other group which was countering the demonstration was led by youth leader John Otao who said that Ongwae has done much since he took office.
